Concerto Competition 2017

We are very excited to be having our very first concerto competition this term! The application deadline had been posted as January 4th, but due to the weather yesterday as well as other concerns, we have extended the application deadline to January 11th.

Are you working on a concerto by Bach, Corelli, Vivaldi or any other composers who wrote for a solo instrument accompanied by strings? Imagine playing a movement of your concerto in a concert, with the Senior Singing Strings as your accompanying orchestra!

An accomplished panel of judges (TBA) will be listening to all the entries and picking our performers on February 4th.

Attached are PDF and Word versions of both the application form and the Concerto Competition information form.

If you have any questions, please email singingstringspei@gmail.com for more information.

PEI Crafts Council Christmas Craft Fair

Hi all –

I am looking for some parent volunteers to man a table to sell Singing Strings CDs during the PEI Craft Council Christmas Craft Fair this weekend – the hours are:
Friday 1-9pm
Saturday 10am – 5pm
Sunday 12pm – 5pm
We have some Senior students who are willing to play Christmas carols during some of those times but I would love to have one or two older students or parents who are willing to sit at the table and sell CDs. We have 300 to sell and they make great Christmas gifts!!
Can you let Natalie know (cellonatw@gmail.com) if you are able to help out at any time?
Thanks,
Natalie

A few reminders

Hi everyone – just a few reminders to pass on:

1. Parking – the church has asked us to remind everyone to please pay attention to and respect the parking signs in the church parking lot – there are a few places reserved for various members of church staff and Wednesday night is meeting night so those spots are needed. Please park in available and non marked spots. Thank you!

2. Food – Senior and Intermediate Strings are reminded that there is no food allowed in the choir room (where we leave our cases). Please have your snack in the hallway, rather than eating in the choir room.

3. This week some schools are not in attendance on Wednesday (Charlottetown Rural family of schools) – but we will still be having rehearsal as normal! Please let your conductor know if you are unable to come due to the school situation.

Thanks, everyone! See you all on Wednesday…

Natalie, Sue, Jen and Wendy
