Remembering John Clement

It is with great sadness, many tears, and a heavy heart that we share the news that our leader, friend and founder has passed away. John had had some recent health difficulties, but passed away peacefully last night at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown.
Singing Strings Indian River 2013

We will always remember his smile, the twinkle in his eyes, his high standards, his passion for music, his great stories, and his fondness for every musician that passed through our program. The picture attached was taken as John was conducting the Senior orchestra during a performance at St. Mary’s Historic Church, Indian River, PE in 2013.

There will be a wake at the Belvedere Funeral Home tomorrow, Saturday, April 15th from 2-5pm and a memorial service on Monday, April 17th at 11am at Park Royal United Church.

All Singing Strings alumni and any musical friend who wishes may join us in playing Ashokan Farewell at the closing of the memorial service on Monday. We will have spare copies of music there if you wish to join this musical tribute.

Rest in peace, our dear friend and mentor. We will miss you greatly!
