Hi all –
A further update on the schedule for this coming Sunday:
5:00-5:45pm rehearsal with the choir at Trinity United Church, 90 Spring Street, Summerside
5:45-6:45pm Singing Strings rehearsal at Trinity
6:45-7:30pm Dinner break
If we could get some parents to make sandwiches, bring cookies, vegetables, drinks, etc then we wouldn’t have to worry about losing everyone as they drive to dinner in that short amount of time. I will ask the students at rehearsal on Wednesday whether everyone could bring something to share, kind of a potluck idea.
Tickets are available for parents and family at the door – $15 adults, $10 students.
Dress is burgundy dresses for ladies (if you have one) with black shoes, and a tux, black socks, white shirt, black shoes for the gentlemen.
This Friday, October 5, PEIRMTA and the UPEI Music Department will be co-hosting a recital by the winner of this year’s Atlantic Young Artist Competition, violinist Heemin Choi, with Lynn Stodola piano. Heemin has been winning national competitions since 2004 and was a featured soloist with Symphony Nova Scotia in 2010. He currently studies with Philippe Djokic at Dalhousie University. Pianist Lynn Stodola is well-known to Maritime audiences as a soloist and chamber musician, as well as professor of piano at Dalhousie University.
The programme will include works by Beethoven, Paganini, Richard Mascall, and Richard Strauss.
The recital is at 7:30 p.m. at Steel Recital Hall, UPEI. Tickets are $15 & $10(seniors/students) available at the door or from the Music Department.
Hi all, just to let you know that there are some free tickets available for Friday night’s concert for students:
From an email: There will be two opportunities to hear the Island Camerata Players (Frances Gray; piano, Morgan Saulnier; flute and Natalie Williams Calhoun; cello) this coming weekend. Friday, September 28th at the Dr. Steel Recital Hall at 7:30 pm and again on Sunday, September 30th at Trinity United Church in Summerside at 3 pm.
Once again the UPEI Music Department would like to offer each private music teacher 5 free tickets for your students to come to one of these recitals.
If you have interested students please send me their names by noon on Friday and I’ll add them to the list at the door.
Natalie says: if anyone is interested, please let me know as I have 5 tickets to offer to students! Jen might be available to give out hers as well…
I am trying to finalize numbers for tickets for the concert on August 26th at Indian River. If you remember, Singing Strings students and their families can get $10 tickets to the 7:30pm concert at Indian River on Sunday, August 26th. This works out well for those of us going to camp, as we can drop things at the camp, go to the concert and then return to the camp and sleep there in preparation for the crazy camp week. But for those of you not going to camp, these tickets are also available and I would encourage you all to attend what I am sure will be a fabulous concert!
Please let Natalie know via email if you would like tickets by Monday, August 20 as we need to let the box office know what tickets we require. This is a great deal, so I would encourage you all to take part, especially as they are playing one of my favorite pieces, the Schubert String Quintet!
