Summer 2013 Singing Strings Camp Information

SINGING STRINGS ORIENTATION CAMP

AUG 25-29, 2013

CAMP TRIUMPH, Malpeque Bay, PEI

The Singing Strings is starting to plan its annual summer camp, this year to be held again in Malpeque, PEI, at CampTriumph in their lovely new location. We find that this camp is a great way to reintroduce the students to string orchestra playing, perhaps to reacquaint them to their instruments (if they have had a summer holiday!) and to get our new season started with an intense few days of fun & music making. As we did last year, we are looking at performing a final camp concert at the wonderful historic St. Mary’s Church at Indian River – what an amazing opportunity to perform in this beautiful building!

The cost for this year’s camp is $295 (includes HST) for a 4 day camp (arriving Monday morning, leaving Thursday night). This fee is the same for Junior, Intermediate, Senior or Pre-Junior students.

Each orchestra level will be holding a 4 day camp this year and the cost of the camp has increased slightly from last year due to some extra staff that we will be hiring from CampTriumph to make things easier on parent volunteers. We know that there are always demands on your students and on the funds available for your students, but we do believe that this camp does offer great value for money. For those who are newcomers or beginners trying this camp for the first time who have concerns about funding or attendance, please talk to one of our music directors as we may be able to assist. We would like as many of our current Singing Strings students to attend as possible, as well as potential new Singing Strings members or perhaps some visitors from away!

Our staff for summer 2013 includes music directors John & Jen Clement, Sue Irvine, Wendy Evers and Natalie Williams Calhoun. We are also looking at possible visiting staff of Garth & Ruth Williams (violin & piano), Nadia Francavilla (violin), Sue Sayle (viola), Norm Adams (cello) & Louis Garson (bass). We are also currently confirming recreational activities such as dance and choir and looking into what recreational opportunities exist in and around CampTriumph such as we accessed last year.

Please keep in touch with the Singing Strings online at our website:

There will be updates to camp information posted there as well as emailed to those we have registration forms and information for.
