Paper Lions Super Show!

Singing Strings and the Paper Lions Super Show!

As most of you know, the Senior Singing Strings often get asked to play at various banquets, events, conventions, levees and whatever kind of events there are around Charlottetown. During this past summer, we were asked to participate in the upcoming Paper Lions Super Show which will be happening on Friday, September 30th at the Delta Prince Edward Convention Centre.

The guys from Paper Lions have generously offered to give the Singing Strings a commission from the tickets we sell for the show, and so we are asking families if they would be interested in buying tickets to the show or selling any to friends, as a fundraiser for the Singing Strings. The paper tickets will be available to be handed out on Wednesday, September 14th and there are two options for tickets: General Admission is $30 for aged 19 and over, $20 for under 19 and Students; and VIP for aged 19 and over is $50.  You can also purchase tickets online via a special link that benefits the Singing Strings program:

In a program such as ours, every little bit of fundraising helps and we know that the Paper Lions will put on a great show so I would encourage everyone to come out and see it! The evening will also feature the Atlantic String Machine (well connected to Singing Strings with members Natalie, Louis, Sean, Karen and Jeffrey) so it should be a very fun night! Mark your calendars now!

Please let us know via email at if you have any issues with downloading the forms!

Hope to see you all at camp in a few short weeks!

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Singing Strings at our concert tonight; our musicians, their families, their friends, our audience! We can’t do what we do without all of you there!

And thanks again to the parents for lending us your children – we say this every year, but they’re wonderful and we hope to have them back in the fall.

There are still a few activities left in each orchestra – the Juniors have a concert this coming Wednesday, and the Intermediates and Seniors have one more rehearsal left on the 8th.

And if you didn’t pre-order your CD tonight – send us an email at and we can put you on the list. The CDs are $15 each and money goes towards projects next year; travel, new music, etc. We will keep you posted as to when it is all completed and ready to go.

Thanks again and congratulations to all!

2016 Celebratory Concert – May 30 at 6:30pm

All levels of the Singing Strings Youth Orchestra program will be presenting a final concert at Park Royal United Church to celebrate a successful year of music making! Come hear the Junior Orchestra, under the direction of Sue Irvine; the Intermediate Orchestra, under the direction of Jenet Clement and Wendy Evers-Forrester (with help from John Clement) and the Senior Orchestra, under the direction of Natalie Williams Calhoun. There is no charge for this event, and we would love to pack the church to hear these talented young musicians!

Music performed will include various selections from Richard Meyer, the Skye Boat Song, Tchaikovsky and Marquez. We promise a fun evening of music, so bring your family and friends!

Come cheer on Judy, Connie and Sannu!

Tonight is the final competition of the music festival – the Junior and Senior Rose Bowl competition. Two Senior Singing String players (and one alumni) are competing tonight and would love your support! Judy Yun is competing in the Junior Rose Bowl, which starts at 6:30pm, and Connie Yun and Sannu Lawt are competing in the Senior Rose Bowl at 8:00pm; both are being held in the Dr. Steel Recital Hall at the UPEI Department of Music. Tickets are available at the door. See you there!
